Aligned with the National Plan for Energy and Climate, the EV Subsidy Program is designed to expedite the shift towards electric vehicles. This initiative embodies Cyprus's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and fostering an eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.
Investing in a Cleaner Tomorrow
With a robust funding of €36.524.500 from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility and a comprehensive budget of €53 million, this program aims to democratize electric mobility. This significant investment highlights the dedication to mitigating climate change and enhancing sustainable transport solutions.
Goals and Outcomes
The subsidy program seeks to:
- Boost the adoption of zero or low CO2 emission vehicles.
- Encourage alternative, sustainable transportation methods.
- Drastically cut down environmental transport impacts, particularly CO2 emissions and pollutants.
- Broad Spectrum of Beneficiaries
The initiative is designed to benefit a diverse group, including private individuals, taxi operators, disabled individuals, large families, and corporations, by offering:
- Subsidies for acquiring new zero-emission vehicles.
- Scrappage schemes for replacing older polluting vehicles.
- Grants for electric bicycles.
- Varied Subsidy Provisions
Subsidies are tailored to different needs, with private vehicles eligible for up to €9,000, while taxis and vehicles for disabled individuals can receive up to €20,000. The program also extends special subsidies for commercial vehicles, small buses, microcars & motorcycles, catering to the varied requirements of Cyprus's citizens.
